About KumbupThe sword or a sharp blade has directed, even in modern times, the course of human history. The sword is found in religious teachings, in folklore, and in both Western and Eastern cultures.
Historically, the sword has defined the ultimate warrior. The study of the sword helps in the understanding of the individual as well as the struggles of civilizations. For these reasons, I have become a student of Kumbup. Kumbup is not a sport. It is not a metaphysical study. Kumbup is the union of an individual with an elegantly crafted and decisive weapon. This union requires technique that takes full advantage of human biomechanics and the physics of a sharp blade. Skill, not strength, results in efficiency, mastery, and a warrior. – Omar Smith |
Hello, and welcome to the fascinating world of Null Kumbup. No punches or kicks here, just the motivation and desire to master the artistry of the ancient Korean sword.
I am a 1st Dan Blackbelt in Kumbup and have been training for about two years. In class train with three Korean swords: the Mokum (wooden), the Gakum(metal, dull blade) and the Jinkum(sharp blade used for cutting straw, bamboo, etc.)
So, if you’re tired or bored with your present martial art, or just looking for a new challenge, Null Kumbup is for you.
